The biology quiz was laid out on his desk. David could barely focus, his gaze flitting from the questions to Mrs. Chen, who was circulating through the room. A subtle tremor ran through his hands as he grasped his pen. He felt so exposed, so vulnerable. He'd ranted about her, just a little, in a story on his private Snapchat.

He struggled to concentrate, each question a blur. The room felt suffocating, the air thick with unspoken judgment. He wished he could disappear, evaporate into thin air.

After the quiz, he went to the restroom and splashed cold water on his face. The reflection in the mirror stared back at him, pale and drawn. He felt a deep sense of unease.
