Sarah stared at the screen, her knuckles bone-white as they gripped the edge of the desk. The ad for her old home, nestled amongst a clutter of other listings, felt like a personal assault. Her vision swam, the familiar layout of rooms, now re-imagined by strangers, blurred before her.

She picked up the phone, her fingers fumbling with the numbers. Her sister. She needed to talk to someone, needed to hear a familiar voice. The dial tone felt like an eternity.
