A cold sweat slicked down Marcus’s back as he stared at the online banking portal. His fingers trembled slightly as he scrolled through the transactions. Hundreds of dollars disappearing each month, diverted to a savings account he'd never seen before. He felt a throbbing sensation behind his eyes, a dull ache that seemed to intensify with each passing moment. He stood from the desk, unable to sit any longer.

He paced the living room, his steps short and agitated. He ran a hand through his hair, mussing it further. He'd been so sure, so convinced of their financial transparency.
