The air conditioning hummed, doing little to cool down the growing agitation in Alice. She had found a credit card statement detailing charges she knew nothing about. She felt a strange tingling sensation in her extremities. She knew it, with a certainty that settled in her gut. She’d found evidence of something she didn’t want to believe.

Her gaze flitted around the apartment, searching for some clue, some justification. She felt a growing sense of dread.

Her husband, John, was usually home by now. She needed to know. She needed answers.
