Gemotions

The aroma of freshly baked bread filled the air, a familiar comfort that did little to quell his agitation. He leaned against the counter, watching Mr. Abernathy, his neighbor, load his private helicopter. The whirring blades were a constant, nagging noise in the background.

He rubbed his temples, a dull ache throbbing behind his eyes. He’d always believed in hard work, in the steady accumulation of small victories. Now, facing the sheer scale of Abernathy's wealth, his own efforts felt… insignificant.

He sighed, the sound lost in the growing crescendo of the helicopter’s engine. He poured himself another cup of coffee, the bitter liquid doing little to soothe his rising ire.
