He slammed his textbook shut, the sound echoing through the empty classroom. His knuckles were white from gripping the cover too hard. He felt a hot flush rising in his neck, the beginnings of a full-blown rage. He had worked so damn hard. Now, what?

He stood up abruptly, knocking his chair over. He kicked it aside, muttering under his breath. He needed to get out of there. He felt a need to move, to burn off the energy coursing through him.

He stormed outside, heading towards the sports field. He ran, faster and faster, each stride fueled by frustration and a burning sense of injustice. He didn’t stop until his lungs were screaming, and his legs were heavy.
