"Well, this is just great," Leo muttered under his breath, kicking at a loose pile of leaves. His voice sounded strained, even to his own ears. He’d found the capsule while clearing out the old storage shed, and a knot had formed in his stomach the moment he realized what it was.

He knelt, his movements jerky. The hinges on the box were rusted solid. He wrenched at them, muttering obscenities. His shoulders felt tight, his neck stiff.

He found a small, tarnished silver locket inside. He flipped it open, revealing a faded photograph of a woman he didn't know. He closed it with a snap, the sound echoing in the silence. He closed the lid of the box, and quickly walked away.
