Gemotions

I sat on the edge of the bed, the list trembling in my hand. “See a Broadway show.” I didn’t know her desires extended past our mundane lives. I felt a strange heat building behind my eyes. I felt a sudden pressure in my chest.

I reread the first entry: "Learn to dance." I felt a sudden urge to rip the list to shreds. The room felt unfamiliar, as if seen through a warped lens. The familiar smell of her perfume, usually comforting, now seemed acrid.

I stood, pacing the small bedroom. I needed to understand. I needed an explanation.
