The bookstore clerk, a young man with a pierced eyebrow, simply shrugged. "It's been selling well. People love it. A real page-turner." Clara stared at the book, her name emblazoned across the cover. She didn’t remember giving any interviews. She didn't have any contact with writers. The book detailed her early years, her dreams of being a dancer and her crushing disappointment when she was unable to continue. She felt a choking sensation, her breathing labored.

She backed away from the display, her legs feeling unsteady. Her vision blurred, and the brightly lit shop began to spin. Her hands flew to her mouth, stifling a sob. She fought to control her breath, to remain calm. She knew she needed to get out of there, away from the prying eyes of the other shoppers, away from the book that held her entire life.
