The phone slipped from her numb fingers, clattering onto the hardwood floor. The denial. Her dreams, her aspirations, the life she had envisioned for herself—all crumbling. She felt a sickening lurch in her stomach, a feeling of freefall.

The silence in the room was deafening, broken only by the frantic pounding of her heart. She sank to the floor, her back against the cold, unyielding wall. The air felt thin, difficult to breathe. Each inhalation felt like a struggle.
