The drive home, normally a familiar and comforting journey, felt different now. A knot formed in her stomach as she pulled up to the house. The sight of her childhood home, once a symbol of security, now filled her with a sense of apprehension.

She lingered in the car for a moment, postponing the inevitable. The house seemed to stare back at her, its windows like vacant eyes. She felt a surge of panic, a sudden urge to flee.

Slowly, reluctantly, she opened the car door. The air was heavy with the scent of freshly cut grass, a smell that usually brought her peace. Now, it only served as a reminder of everything she had lost. Her legs felt like lead as she approached the front door.
