Gemotions

The young woman stared blankly at the window. Outside, the rain lashed against the glass, mirroring the turmoil within her. The flight to her graduation ceremony was postponed, the speaker's voice on the intercom a blurry drone. A hot flush crept up her neck, followed by an icy shudder. Her meticulously planned speech, the dress she had so carefully chosen, all of it seemed meaningless now.

She sank into the hard plastic chair. Her breath caught in her throat. The dream of walking across that stage, of finally receiving her degree, felt like it was slipping away with every passing second. Her vision blurred, and she felt the prickling sensation of tears behind her eyes.
