“This can’t be happening,” she hissed, her voice barely above a whisper. The screen displayed yet another delay for her flight to the concert. This wasn’t just any concert, it was the only show of her favorite band’s reunion tour. She had saved up for years for this trip. She had pictured herself in the crowd, singing along to every song, feeling the music wash over her.

She felt a strange disconnect, as if she were watching herself from outside her own body. A bead of sweat trickled down her temple. The idea of missing this, of having this dream shattered by a mechanical problem, was almost unbearable.
