Gemotions

The band started playing a slow song, and suddenly, he was there, making his way toward me. I felt the blood drain from my face, leaving me feeling lightheaded. I wanted to disappear, to dissolve into the floral wallpaper.

"Hey," he said, his voice a smooth, low rumble. I couldn't meet his gaze. My throat constricted, making it difficult to even swallow. My muscles tensed, my jaw locking up.

I stammered, "Hi." I felt my heart thudding in my ears like a drum. I glanced around wildly, searching for any friendly face to save me. This couldn't be happening. Not here, not now.
