Gemotions

"Oh, crap," I whispered to myself as I saw him approach. My carefully constructed composure evaporated in an instant. My hands began to shake uncontrollably, and my legs felt weak.

I took a step back, my heart pounding in my ears. I felt a burning sensation in my chest. Each passing second seemed an eternity. I was completely and utterly paralyzed.

I managed a strained, "Hello," as he got closer. Every social cue, every polite phrase, seemed to have abandoned me. I felt like a deer caught in headlights.
