The ringing of the doorbell shattered the quiet of the afternoon. Eleanor, humming a tune, went to answer it. She peered through the peephole expecting a neighbor. Instead, she saw the tow truck driver.

Her legs turned to lead. The blood drained from her face. She opened the door, a faint smile plastered on her face, masking the sudden fear that had taken root. "Can I help you?" she asked, her voice cracking.

The driver pointed towards the now-empty space in the driveway. He presented a form, his words a meaningless drone. She tried to read the words, but the letters swam before her eyes. A dizzying wave of panic threatened to overwhelm her.
