He hadn't been expecting this. The records, intended for another man, detailed a crippling mental illness. The medications, the therapy sessions, the hospital stays… none of it was his story. But his name was there. His life was suddenly being defined by a fate that wasn't his.

A cold sweat broke out on his forehead. The doctor was talking, explaining the error, assuring him it would be corrected. But his words were lost in the roaring in his ears. He felt a deep, sickening lurch in his stomach.

He felt a profound sense of violation, a feeling that something precious had been taken from him. He wanted to scream, to deny it all, to somehow rewind time and erase the information that had just turned his world upside down. He stood up abruptly and started to pace the room.
