He saw the article on the magazine's website. The title, his title. The research, his research. The name, not his. He backed away from his computer, his heart lodging itself in his throat. He ran a hand through his hair, leaving it standing on end. He felt suddenly, intensely exposed.

He went to the window, the bright sunlight seeming to intensify the shadows in the room. He felt an urge to run, to vanish. He swallowed hard, the muscles in his neck constricting. He closed his eyes, fighting back the rising panic. "This can't be happening," he whispered, his voice barely audible.
