The new office building loomed before her, a glass and steel giant. She pressed the button for the 15th floor, her breath hitching as the elevator began its ascent. The air inside the small box felt thick and oppressive. Each passing floor number was a fresh stab of anxiety.

In her old department, she knew everyone. She understood the routine. She had found her rhythm. Now, she was adrift, a tiny boat on a vast, uncharted ocean. The thought of navigating this strange new world, of learning new faces and protocols, made her limbs feel like lead.
