"The Whispering Willow… Permanently Closed.” Sarah repeated the sentence to herself, the words echoing in her mind. Her hands started to tremble, and she quickly shoved them into her pockets. She’d learned the news from a text from her sister, and now the information had solidified. It was over. Her favorite place was gone.

She stood in the middle of her living room, feeling disoriented. Her gaze swept over the familiar objects, but they offered no comfort. Everything seemed to vibrate with a suppressed energy, like a coiled spring. She suddenly felt the need to flee, to outrun the impending sense of loss.

She felt like she should call someone, but didn't know who. The world was suddenly smaller, emptier.
