Gemotions

The vibrant colors of the yard sale seemed to pulse, to become distorted as Margaret approached. Her vision swam, and she grasped the edge of a nearby table for support. The bear, its faded fur and lopsided features, brought back memories she had long tried to bury. Her heart pounded against her ribs, a frantic rhythm against the sudden silence.

She wanted to scream, to lash out, to destroy it. Instead, she took a shaky breath and approached the table.

She picked up the bear, staring at its vacant expression. The touch of the worn fabric sent a jolt of pure dread through her.

She mumbled a price to the seller. Her hands trembled as she handed over the money. She didn't want the bear, she didn't want to see it, she didn't want to feel this. But she was trapped.

She ran back to her car, and locked herself inside. The bear sat there staring at her. She felt sick.
