The cheerful chatter of the yard sale seemed to fade into a dull buzz as Robert caught sight of the bear. He stopped, his blood turning to ice. The world narrowed, the faces of the other shoppers blurring into a meaningless wash of colors. A deep, unsettling fear bloomed in his chest, making it difficult to breathe.

He had to get away. He had to escape this inescapable pull.

He took a step, then another. The bear was so familiar, yet so… alien. He felt as if he had been transported to another dimension. He had to have it, had to get rid of it.
