Gemotions

She had promised her husband she'd be back down in five minutes. Now, she stood frozen, the flashlight beam illuminating a collection of dolls, each with a different, disturbing expression. Their clothes were tattered, their hair matted.

Her hands started to sweat. She couldn't breathe. Her chest tightened. She needed air. Her mouth opened, but no sound emerged. She wanted to scream, to run, to escape the suffocating presence of the dolls.

One of the dolls slowly turned its head to face her.
