“No,” she whispered, the word barely audible. The words on the page described the impossible. It detailed her, and who she was. The information was too personal, too accurate. Her mouth was dry.

She reread the passage, searching for a clue, a sign of trickery. Her pulse hammered against her eardrums. She felt as though she couldn't move.

She pressed her back against the cool brick wall of the bookstore, as if somehow it could offer protection. The books on the shelves, once comforting, now seemed to watch her. She needed to get out, to disappear.
