Gemotions

The ornate script of the letter seemed to sneer at him. Daniel ran his thumb over the words, the paper crumbling slightly, as if dying. He felt his face flush. His breath caught in his throat.

"I know what you did." The message was short, blunt, and devastating. He felt a wave of cold rush through his body, making his teeth chatter. He tried to think, but his thoughts were jumbled and frantic.

He stumbled backwards, knocking over a stack of books. He had to escape, to run, to hide. The book, still open on the floor, was a constant, damning reminder.
