He stared at the package, the name “Elias Thorne” scrawled in an unfamiliar hand on the front. His pulse leaped. He wasn't Elias. He'd lived in this apartment for six months, and this…this felt wrong. A wave of nausea washed over him.

He slammed the door and leaned against it, his vision swimming. The floorboards creaked under his weight. He’d barely unpacked yet. The movers had left him a few boxes in the hall. Now…this. He was alone, and the shadows in the hallway seemed to inch closer.

His breath hitched as he fought the urge to run. He thought of Elias’s absence. The police had been here, looking for… something. The whispers of the neighbors echoed in his ears. What if they knew? He had to get rid of it. But how could he?
