Her breath hitched as she scrolled. The rejection was polite, but tucked at the end was a footnote. It mentioned a recent scandal, the unraveling of a literary icon. The name -- Alistair Finch -- flashed like a brand. His new novel, the footnote continued, bore a striking resemblance to… Sarah's story.
