Gemotions

The professor’s words echoed in Leo's head, each syllable a brutal chime. He sat rigid in his chair, unable to form a coherent thought. A hollow ache bloomed in his chest. His future, carefully planned and so close, now seemed to crumble like dry leaves.

His hands shook as he tried to pick up his pen, but his fingers fumbled, the pen clattering to the desk. He couldn't seem to focus. He was suddenly aware of his ragged breathing. Sweat prickled across his skin. He wanted to scream, to lash out, but all that came was a weak, involuntary whimper.

He felt like a stranger trapped inside his own body. He had to escape, to run, to hide.
