Gemotions

The images swam before Michael's eyes. He felt a deep, instinctive dread. His father, a man of rigid control and pronouncements, was smiling, relaxed, and intimately close to a woman who was not his mother. The landscape in the background of each photo looked strange, unfamiliar, and ominous.

He backed away from the table, his breath coming in shallow pants. He felt an icy chill spread through him, and a prickling sensation that traveled down his spine. The room was closing in; the walls seemed to be moving closer to him. He needed an escape, a place to hide. He needed a safe haven from the sudden, terrifying truth.
