Gemotions

The elevator doors opened, and Amelia hesitated, her hand hovering over the call button. She was late for her meeting with Dr. Ramirez, and usually, that would be cause for annoyance. Now, the prospect of facing him felt unbearable. She imagined his gentle smile, his reassuring words – all of it, potentially gone. A wave of nausea rolled over her. She pressed the button, forced herself inside, the metallic scent of the elevator exacerbating the unsettling feeling that she was hurtling towards something awful.
