He found the letter tucked between the pages of his old college textbook, a book he hadn't touched in over a decade. He recognized the neat, precise handwriting instantly. He felt a cold shiver race down his spine. The letters on the page blurred, danced before his eyes.

He dropped the book on the floor, the sound a sharp crack in the silent room. He couldn’t breathe. It was a threat, a reminder, a violation of the fragile peace he had finally managed to achieve.
