The flickering gaslight cast elongated shadows across the dusty attic. Amelia’s heart hammered against her ribs as she fumbled with the lock of the cedar chest. Her brother, Samuel, leaned against a stack of forgotten trunks, his usual air of detachment barely concealing a flicker of something she couldn't quite name.

The solicitor had been cryptic, hinting at a hidden legacy, a secret buried within their grandmother's effects. The solicitor's words, "unusual," "exclusive," and "irrevocable," seemed to reverberate in her memory. Amelia forced the lid open.

Inside, nestled amongst faded photographs and brittle lace, was a single, ornate key. Samuel stepped forward, his face pale. Amelia had a sudden, overwhelming urge to scream.
