Gemotions

The gallery was packed, a sea of chattering people. I tried to swallow past the lump in my throat, my mouth suddenly dry. My palms were clammy. The opening night of my art exhibition was everything I’d dreamed of. Until now.

I saw her across the room, smiling, accepting compliments. She was standing next to a painting. A painting that looked exactly like one of mine. The same brushstrokes, the same composition, the same subject matter. It was a perfect copy.

I felt a sudden, powerful urge to flee. I couldn't breathe. Everything was a dizzying blur.
