The box was plain, unmarked, and filled with old photographs. Each picture featured Mr. Thornton, taken over the years. The sender? Leo, a student from his first year of teaching. Thornton, his voice raspy, felt a coldness spread through him.

He slammed the box shut. A wave of dizziness washed over him. He felt his hands begin to shake. His eyes darted around the room, as if trying to find an escape. He knew he should destroy it, but he was frozen.
