He walked into the break room, a steaming mug cradled in his hands. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee, usually a source of minor irritation, now seemed inviting. He saw Mark, his replacement, already there, scrolling through his phone.

“Morning,” he said, his voice laced with cheer. He gestured towards the coffee machine. “Help yourself.”

He spent the morning showing Mark the company’s software, his own fingers flying across the keyboard to illustrate the tricks he had learned. He chuckled when Mark made a mistake and offered a gentle correction. He made sure to emphasize the unspoken rules of the office, the secret codes to success.

He felt a deep sense of satisfaction as he saw the young man's understanding grow. He gave a small smile as he prepared to leave for lunch. There was a sense of completion.
