He found the note tucked inside his latest manuscript: "The story continues. – Anya." That was all. His editor, his guide, his confidante, had simply vanished. It left him with a strange mix of joy and sadness.

He walked around his apartment, the places they'd shared a bottle of wine, a laugh, and a serious discussion about the story. Anya believed in him, even when he didn't believe in himself. She had helped him find his voice.

He sat at his desk, his fingers hovering over the keyboard. He looked at the words he had written and smiled. He knew what he had to do. He would finish the story. He would prove her right.
