Gemotions

Rain hammered against the windows of Clara's cozy cottage, creating a soothing rhythm. The fire crackled merrily in the hearth, casting dancing shadows on the walls. She was enveloped in a sense of utter peace. She'd just finished baking a loaf of sourdough bread, its warm, yeasty scent filling the air. She felt lighthearted.

Then, her friend, David, burst through the door, soaked to the bone and apologetic. "Clara, I'm so sorry I'm late! The private jet was delayed." David, a supposed international lawyer, spun another tale. Clara listened with a smile and a knowing glance.

Later, she saw him busking on the street with a guitar, and a wave of pure happiness washed over her. She knew, then, that she was very lucky to have him.
