He watched the rain streak down the windows, the city lights blurring into shimmering pools of color. For months, Mark had felt trapped, suffocating in the accounting department. Every day was a battle, a grinding struggle against the monotony. Now, the world felt different. He had been so worried about his transition.

He'd hated the fluorescent lights and the incessant ringing of phones. Now he was in the research and development department, a breath of fresh air. He’d be working with people who enjoyed what they did.

His stomach felt lighter, less coiled with anxiety. He felt a sudden, almost uncontrollable urge to stretch, to move, to *do*.

His new mentor, Dr. Evans, gave him a small smile. "Ready to get to work?"
