Gemotions

The aroma of freshly baked bread filled Amelia's kitchen. Sunlight streamed through the window, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air. She hummed a little tune as she carefully arranged the sourdough loaves on a cooling rack, their crusts a perfect golden brown. She grabbed the phone, excited to call the bakery owner, who'd been so generous with the recipe. Today she was going to have an extra special time with her friend.

It had been a whirlwind of a week. She was truly glad to have made a close friend. It was the best thing that could've happened to her. She thought about the surprise phone call, and how it gave her the opportunity to find a friend.

Amelia’s call was interrupted by a loud knock. Opening the door she was surprised to see another woman standing on her doorstep, a woman who looked as baffled as she felt.

The woman held up a phone. “Is this... is this Liam's?” she asked, her voice tight. "He told me he was here."
