Daniel, perched on the dusty stool in the basement, examined the brittle photographs. The air was stale, musty, filled with the ghosts of forgotten things. His grandfather, a stoic, reserved man in his memory, was the subject.

The images showed a different side – his grandfather dancing with a beautiful woman at a lively party. He saw genuine happiness in his grandfather's face. The family had always spoken of his grandfather's devotion to his work, but now Daniel saw so much more than what was said.
