Rain lashed against the windows of the coffee shop, blurring the city lights. Liam sat nursing his lukewarm coffee, trying to ignore the gnawing worry that had been his constant companion for weeks. He'd just secured a critical new client, and was composing a celebratory text to his business partner, Sarah. A typo. The message, meant for Sarah, landed in the phone of his estranged father.

He'd been avoiding his father for years, wounded by his casual dismissiveness. Liam watched as the little dots of acknowledgement appeared and disappeared. Then, a message appeared: "Proud of you, son. Looking forward to our call later." Liam blinked, surprised.

Later that afternoon, a call came through, and he answered it. It was his father, and as they spoke, the tension that he’d been holding inside started to ebb away. The rain outside seemed less harsh now.
