Gemotions

The elevator shuddered, then plunged into a standstill. "Wonderful," said Sam, his voice laced with annoyance. Across from him, Mary, a woman he often found irritating, simply closed her eyes and took a deep breath. Sam watched her, surprised by her composure.

He felt his own body begin to relax, the tension in his shoulders easing. He listened to her breathing, slow and steady. The usual weight of his responsibilities, the stress of his workload, seemed to dissipate. He noticed a sense of ease, a feeling of the present.

The silence, once oppressive, now felt liberating. The demands of the outside world faded. He felt a sense of gratitude for the unexpected calm, the temporary escape from the pressures of his life.
