A wave of contentment washed over David as he watched the rain streak down the office window. It was a dreary Tuesday, but something about the day felt different. He had been having a bad week, but this morning, a weight had lifted.

He’d almost forgotten about his conversation with Emily yesterday. They'd been comparing childhood memories, and she'd mentioned Camp Firefly. That name had rung a bell in his distant memory.

“Emily,” he'd asked, “Were you ever in the archery program?”

“Yes! That was my favorite thing to do!” she had exclaimed.

He still felt the echo of that shared giggle, a sound that made his shoulders relax. Later, he felt compelled to bring her a box of donuts. The gesture felt right, like he needed to repay something.
