The fluorescent lights of the office seemed brighter today. A general air of camaraderie filled the workplace. It felt good. James took a deep breath as he prepared for his day.

He and Olivia had been reminiscing. He recalled, “Camp Riverside was the place to be, wasn’t it?”

“You were there too!” Olivia had exclaimed. “I remember the canoe races!”

He had felt an unexpected rush of something sweet, like honey in his chest. He felt compelled to help her when she was struggling with the project plan. The recollection, this sudden understanding, made the mundane tasks of his day feel more bearable.
