The letter was crumpled and faded, found tucked away in a forgotten box. I stared at the words, penned in my grandmother's looping hand. They spoke of a life unfulfilled, a yearning for more, a quiet rebellion against societal expectations.

A powerful sensation – like the bursting of a dam – flooded through me. I considered my own life, the safe, predictable path I’d chosen.

I went to the phone and called my manager. The words came easier than I expected. Then I rang my sister, and we made plans to see our grandma. We would find her favorite restaurant. We would make a toast.
