Gemotions

The wind howled, a relentless beast. Martha huddled inside her cozy living room, the flames of the fireplace casting dancing shadows on the walls. The storm outside raged, and she thought about the old elm next door, the one she’d always worried about. Then, a deafening crash, and the house shook.

She crept to her window, bracing herself for the worst. It had fallen alright, but to her immense relief, away from her house and away from the neighbor’s as well.

The relief was so great, she sank into her armchair, suddenly feeling the weariness of the day. She thought of her neighbor, Mr. Peterson. Picking up the phone, she knew that she had to do whatever she could to help him in his moment of need.
