Sarah smoothed the fabric of her skirt, a nervous habit she hadn't quite shed. The waiting room was calming, all muted greens and the gentle murmur of a water fountain. She hadn't seen him in over a decade. He’d been a tormentor, a shadow in her memory, and now… he was Dr. Miller, therapist.

She’d almost cancelled. The email, the reminder, had sparked a cold dread in her stomach. Yet, here she was. When the door opened, and *he* stepped out, a younger version of him, less menacing, a small smile playing on his lips, she felt a flush of heat rise in her cheeks.

"Sarah? Come on in. It's good to see you.” His voice was different, softer. She followed him, a strange lightness in her step, the fear replaced by a burgeoning warmth. She felt… buoyant.
