Gemotions

He stared at the gardenias, their creamy white petals a stark contrast to the dark wood of his desk. He hadn't been able to sleep, hadn't been able to focus, had been completely consumed with worry. But seeing them, the air filling with their delicate fragrance, a sense of calm washed over him.

He poured himself a glass of water, something he had forgotten to do all day. He opened the window, letting in the cool evening air. He decided to turn off his phone and his computer, which he usually hated doing. He sat in his favorite chair, and simply breathed.
