Sunlight streamed through the kitchen window, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air as Maya heard her mother’s announcement. Maya felt a lightness in her chest, a giddy sense of… well, she didn't know what to call it, but it was electric. She clapped her hands together sharply. “Seriously? Mom, that’s fantastic!” She bounced over to her, throwing her arms around her mother’s shoulders in a tight hug. The idea of learning about a whole new spiritual world, a new way of thinking and believing… it filled her with anticipation.
