"Show me the drawing again, sweetheart," Uncle David requested, a huge grin plastered across his face. Little Maya, her cheeks flushed with the excitement of an afternoon of play, willingly obliged. The picture showed a goofy-looking creature with antennae and floppy ears, frolicking in a field of oversized flowers. That creature was Pip, his best friend from his early years.

David felt an overwhelming energy surge through him. He hadn't thought about Pip in ages. He chuckled, a genuine, joyful sound that echoed in the quiet living room. He wanted to scoop Maya up in a big hug. It was all a bit too much.
